Before you scoff let me explain my definition of fair. I thought the tax code was fair because it treats everyone who does the same thing the same way. This changes almost everything!&nbsp; Instead of summarizing the article for you here is the first paragraph (in truth I am still to shaken to write a summary) </span></p> <p><em><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Citigroup will not pay billions of dollars in taxes in a deal announced this week with the federal government. The Internal Revenue Service is waiving certain tax rules as part of Citigroup's agreement to repay taxpayer money it received in the government's bid to help the big company survive the financial crisis. &quot;It's another form of assistance, maybe not as obvious as direct assistance but certainly another form,&quot; said Robert Willens, an expert on tax accounting. &quot;I've been doing taxes for almost 40 years, and I've never seen anything like this, where the IRS and Treasury acted unilaterally on so many fronts.&quot; The Washington Post</span></em><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'> </span></p> <p><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>It has now become clear why the call for increased taxes is getting louder and louder.
