If you have been paying attention lately you may have noticed that a theme has been emerging on tax relief from the new administration. &nbsp;It seems if you want to pay less tax, just ignore the rules and pay what you choose.&nbsp; At least that has been what White House nominees and Washington insiders have been doing. </span></p> <p><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Timothy Geithner our new&nbsp;Treasury Secretary (which makes him in charge of the IRS) decided that he did not want to pay self-employment tax, <strong><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>so he didn t</span></strong>. I know, hold on, before you e-mail me to say that it was just a mistake consider this, he signed a worksheet from the IMF (his employer) showing the amount of self-employment tax he would owe and agreed to pay it out of his own funds. Next we had Tom Daschle, nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department (he withdrew while I was writing this) who decided he did not want to pay taxes on <u>all</u> of his income, <strong><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>so he didn t</span></strong>. He also decided he wanted to make charitable donations to organizations that didn t qualify as charities, <strong><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>so he did</span></strong>. And now we have Nancy Killefer, the nominee for something called &quot;Chief White House Performance Officer&quot;. By the way one of the duties for that position is to overhaul the IRS.
